2 tbsp soy sauce
3 garlic cloves, finely minced
1 tbsp rice vinegar (or lemon juice)
¼ tsp chilli flakes (optional)
Cooked rice
Spring onions, finely sliced
Sesame seeds
Tools You’ll Need
Chopping board
Sharp knife
Small mixing bowl
Measuring spoons
Large frying pan or skillet
Wooden spoon or spatula
Small whisk or fork
Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, rice vinegar and chilli flakes until combined.
Pat the prawns dry with kitchen paper.
Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium-high heat.
Add the prawns and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until they begin to turn pink.
Pour the honey garlic sauce into the pan and stir to coat the prawns evenly.
Continue cooking for 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly and becomes glossy.
Remove from the heat immediately to prevent the prawns from overcooking.
Serve over fluffy rice and garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds if desired.
Tips for Perfect Honey Garlic Shrimp
Don’t overcook shrimp; they turn rubbery quickly. Remove from heat as soon as they turn pink and opaque.
Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey based on your preference.
For a little heat, add crushed red pepper flakes or a dash of chili sauce to the sauce mix.
Serve immediately for the best texture and flavour.
